This can be a more serious situation, and may be considered a medical condition called apnea. Sleep apnea occurs when the walls of the throat completely collapse. The fully occluded pathway creates the cessation of breathing. This potentially life threatening disorder requires attention, and should be examined by a medical practitioner.
Although it might just seem like a trivial issue, snoring can very quickly turn into a severe problem. As it starts to disrupt your sleep cycle, the initial results will be weakness and dysfunction throughout the day.
